The shift toward a content‑studio model began in 2021, when live events returned after the pandemic. NYCC hired two creators to run its TikTok account, and, as marketing director Fallon Prinzivalli told Mashable, the videos reached more than 8 million viewers in just four days.
Since then the convention has built a dedicated creator lounge equipped with high‑speed Wi‑Fi, professional lighting and space for filming. NYCC also offers a limited number of complimentary creator badges. The guidelines require at least 200,000 followers, though smaller creators are considered for their community impact. Thousands applied this year, and the program closed after reaching capacity.
Organizers even designed the lower sections of the Crystal Palace entrance banners to serve as photo and video backdrops, ensuring every corner can become a shareable moment.
TikTok creator Kallen Zborovsky‑Fenster uses the lounge to conduct interviews, film segments and network with industry contacts, while cosplay vlogger Caroline Martini appreciates the lighting for her TikTok and Instagram Reels, even though she spends most of her time on the show floor.
These changes are driven by the explosion of short‑form video, the post‑pandemic surge in live‑event attendance, and a booming creator economy. By turning the convention into a studio, NYCC extends its reach far beyond the Javits Center, giving fans online a front‑row seat.
