Ngoc from Hanoi missed a hot‑air balloon ride in Cappadocia because of bad weather. She then planned a solo road trip in Turkey to make sure she could fly, and her story shows how to plan and budget such a trip.
She rented a small automatic car for about $30 a day (around VND780,000) and drove about 1,960 km through Istanbul, Cappadocia, Safranbolu and Göynük. Her nine‑day trip cost about VND22 million for air tickets, VND12 million for hotels, VND4.7 million for the car, VND3 million for insurance, VND3 million in tolls and VND4 million for the balloon ride, roughly VND50 million total.
Ngoc used her Vietnamese driving licence together with an international permit, which made the rental easy. She chose places to stay that had parking, and she brought Vietnamese dry food for nights when she arrived late.
She did not set a fixed route for the whole trip. Each evening she checked the weather and her interests, then decided where to go the next day, preferring nature, villages and less‑urban places over big cities.
Ngoc’s trip shows that a solo road adventure can be organized step by step, with clear goals and a simple budget. By planning costs, using the right documents and staying flexible, you can reach a special experience like a hot‑air balloon ride.
