Ben Anh Nguyen, 17, is set to become the first Vietnamese driver to compete in the FIA F4 World Cup 2026. He earned this chance by finishing runner‑up in the Formula Trophy Malaysia 2026, a breakthrough for Vietnam’s motorsport scene.

The World Cup will be held in Macau, China from November 19 to 22 and will feature 24 of the world’s top young drivers. Competing on the 6.12‑kilometre Guia street circuit puts Nguyen among a highly skilled international field.

Nguyen says his main goal is to learn the circuit, race cleanly and finish the race, noting that taking part marks a milestone for both him and Vietnamese formula racing. He is also a first‑year motorsport engineering student at Purdue University, where he studies aerodynamics.

Born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen turned his room into a racing hub, using lucky‑money gifts to build a home racing simulator. He now balances his university studies with the demands of international competition.

His participation shows that a Vietnamese driver can reach the highest junior levels while pursuing a technical degree. This milestone may inspire other young Vietnamese racers to aim for global events and combine education with sport.
