The Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards named Arugam Bay the #1 most beautiful beach in Asia. This makes the Sri Lankan surf spot more famous than well‑known beaches such as Boracay and Nusa Dua.

Arugam Bay is a famous surfing place on Sri Lanka’s east coast. It has surf breaks called Main Point, Baby Point, Peanut Farm and Whisky Point.

The main surfing season there is from May to September, with the best waves between July and September. During this time surfers from many countries come to surf and to join competitions.

Readers of Condé Nast Traveller gave their ratings, and the list shows Railay Beach in Thailand at #2, Coral Beach in Malaysia at #3, Boracay in the Philippines at #4 and Nusa Dua in Indonesia at #5. The vote shows travelers love Arugam Bay’s surf and scenery.
