Vietnam’s leader To Lam visited the Niels Bohr Institute with King Frederik X, underscoring a growing partnership that could give Vietnamese students direct access to cutting‑edge quantum research and training. The visit shows how high‑level diplomacy can translate into real learning chances.

During the tour, General Secretary and President Lam inspected the institute’s quantum computing lab and quantum fabrication lab, seeing the equipment that underpins modern quantum technology. The presence of King Frederik X highlighted the strong diplomatic support behind scientific cooperation.

In July 2025, the Niels Bohr International Academy, part of the institute, signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam’s International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE). The agreement aims to promote scientist exchanges, joint research, conferences, workshops and doctoral training programmes, with the first joint activities planned for 2026.

The institute focuses on quantum technology, particle physics and astronomy, and it offers training that builds high‑quality human resources. By playing a pioneering role in the University of Copenhagen’s cooperation with Vietnam, the institute helps strengthen links among researchers from Denmark, Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

These developments mean Vietnamese students and researchers will soon have clear pathways to study and work on quantum projects abroad. The partnership therefore opens concrete opportunities for Vietnam to join the global quantum science community.
