Students from Phan Van Tri Elementary and Middle School in Ho Chi Minh City captured the 2026 World Robot Olympiad China Invitational Championship, outpacing more than 400 international teams. Their triumph highlights a fresh way of learning.
The championship took place in Nanjing, China, and featured teams from technology powerhouses such as South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Türkiye, Egypt and China. According to Principal Le Hong Thai, the competition was fiercely contested.
Le Hong Thai explained that the school’s success comes from a learning environment that reduces pressure from grades and puts students’ happiness and creative freedom first. He added that the school stresses hands‑on practice, student autonomy, science clubs and ample space for independent research.
During the event, Vietnamese students demonstrated sharp logical thinking, highly precise automated programming and the ability to troubleshoot independently, Thai said. He also recalled that in August 2026 the team had defeated nearly 500 contestants at the national Robotacon WRO final, winning the gold medal and the national championship.
The win shows that a creativity‑focused, hands‑on education can propel students to the highest levels of global technology contests. For learners, it underlines the value of autonomy and practical experience in mastering tech skills.
