From Tour Guide to 7‑Eleven Ambassador: A Seven‑Language Story
Từ hướng dẫn viên du lịch đến đại sứ 7-Eleven: Câu chuyện của chàng trai thông thạo 7 ngôn ngữ

Tony, whose full name is Teerawat Wanichkam, works at the 7‑Eleven store in Bangkok’s BITEC. He can speak seven languages – English, Chinese, Japanese, Malay, Indonesian, German and Burmese – and uses them to help foreign shoppers feel welcome.
Before joining the store, Tony was a tour guide for foreign visitors. The Covid‑19 pandemic ended that job, so he chose 7‑Eleven to keep using his language skills. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, has studied law, and earned master’s degrees in languages and tourism. He also lived and worked in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, which gave him strong multilingual experience.
Tony says his job is like being a “goodwill ambassador.” He welcomes visitors, helps them feel at home, and hopes they will want to return to Thailand. In more than three years at the chain, he also works as an interpreter and master of ceremonies. He once helped when more than ten tour buses of Chinese tourists entered the store, using all his languages.
Tony’s story shows that language abilities and tourism experience can turn a simple convenience‑store job into a special role for international customers. It reminds us that skills from one field can open new career paths.
