A tourist’s wallet was found and returned the same day it was lost on a Hanoi bus. This shows how fast the tourism department and police can work together to protect visitors.
Robert J. Cho, 59, forgot his wallet on bus E07 in Hanoi on Oct. 20, 2026. He asked the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism for help, and the department sent his report to the Hoan Kiem Ward Police crime‑prevention team. The police gave the wallet back at 8 p.m. the same day at Tay Mo bus depot, and all items – two credit cards, a driver’s license and other documents – were still inside. Officials said smooth coordination helped the quick return.
In September, police at Da Nang International Airport returned a Rolex watch worth VND1.6 billion to a Chinese visitor. In March, Da Nang airport security helped an Indian tourist locate a backpack that held $5,000 in cash. Both cases show the same fast teamwork.
These stories show that when tourism officials and police share information quickly, lost items can be returned very fast. Travelers can feel safer knowing Vietnam’s system works well to protect their belongings.
