On Oct 28, at the 2026 Autumn Economic Forum, investors pledged $16.4 billion for 12 projects in Ho Chi Minh City. This huge money will affect the city’s growth and future opportunities.

The three biggest projects are the International University Urban Area ($6.61 billion), the Can Gio International Transshipment Port ($4.92 billion) and Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem ($2.29 billion). Together they make almost 84 % of the total investment.

Seaport and logistics projects total about $6.75 billion. The 571‑hectare Can Gio port is planned to handle 4.8 million TEUs each year by 2030 and 16.9 million TEUs by 2047.

Urban development projects total about $8.9 billion. The 880‑hectare International University Urban Area will include schools, homes, shops, health centres, sports fields and parks.

The new projects are expected to grow the city’s manufacturing capacity and make Ho Chi Minh City stronger in electronics and industrial equipment supply chains. Some projects have already had groundbreaking or construction start ceremonies.
