Cua Dai Beach, located about five kilometres east of Hoi An Ancient Town, has just completed a major coastal‑protection effort. The investment of over VND1.196 trillion ($46 million) makes the story worth following because it directly affects tourists and local entrepreneurs.

The project built seven offshore breakwaters 250‑300 m from the shore and six groynes stretching almost 1.5 km along the coast. The breakwaters calm waves, while the groynes trap sand to keep the beach stable.

After the works, the beach now shows a dry strip roughly 40 m wide and a swimming zone about 60 m wide, with calmer waves and rows of coconut palms returning to the shoreline. These changes create a safer environment for swimming and other water activities.

Restaurants, cafes and beach‑service stalls have started operating again, and visitors are using the promenade for walking, cycling, exercise and swimming. The renewed foot traffic is helping local businesses recover after years of erosion‑related loss.

Nguyen Ngoc Tan, deputy head of the Da Nang transport and agricultural project management board, said the projects are substantially completed and are now in final acceptance and handover procedures. The restored beach promises a safer, more vibrant spot for both tourists and residents.
