Ho Chi Minh City is actively looking for long‑term partners in strategic infrastructure, high technology, finance, logistics and green energy. This effort matters for young Vietnamese because it could open up new career paths in the city’s fastest‑growing sectors.

From January to October 2026 the city attracted US$19.1 billion in registered foreign direct investment, beating its full‑year target by 73.9 percent. At the same time, there are 22,036 active FDI projects with a total registered capital of more than $157.4 billion. These figures show a strong inflow of capital that can fund large‑scale projects and create employment.

Beyond money, the city hopes to bring in advanced technologies, management expertise and opportunities to develop its workforce. Travis Mitchell, executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, said high‑technology, semiconductors, energy and healthcare have significant potential for U.S. investment. Such sectors usually need engineers, data analysts and specialised technicians, which matches the skill set many young professionals are building.

Mitchell also said U.S. businesses see further opportunities in advanced pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, clinical research and workforce development. These areas require skilled scientists, engineers and health professionals, which could expand job options for Vietnamese graduates.

The city’s investment push is set to create many new jobs and demand new skills. Young Vietnamese professionals can look forward to roles in high‑tech, green energy and advanced manufacturing.
