Vietnamese tech giant FPT Corporation has started trial operations at its new chip testing and packaging plant in Bac Ninh City. The facility is designed to handle up to 300 million chips each year, a scale that could reshape the country’s tech landscape.
The plant is already set to fulfil its first commercial order for a South Korean semiconductor partner, showing that foreign customers trust the new capacity. This contract also aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy to build an integrated semiconductor value chain.
All testing takes place inside a Class 10,000 cleanroom (ISO 7) that meets ISO 14644 requirements, and the whole operation follows ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management standards. Such strict standards help guarantee product quality and environmental and safety compliance.
FPT plans to use the site as a practical training ground for developing highly skilled semiconductor professionals. In the next phase the company also intends to expand into advanced chip packaging technologies, moving toward a full semiconductor ecosystem.
If the plant reaches its capacity and training goals, Vietnam could create many well‑paid technical jobs and strengthen its role in the global chip market. The success of this single facility may therefore be a key step toward a more self‑reliant and innovative tech future for the country.
