Vietnam’s foreign investment has grown a lot in the first ten months of the year. The rise is important because it shows which sectors and countries are helping the economy.
Vietnam registered US$54.85 billion in foreign direct investment from January to October. This is 74 % more than last year and the biggest amount since 2009.
During the same period, 3,478 new foreign‑invested projects were licensed. The total registered capital of these projects was $30.73 billion, more than double the capital of the previous year.
The processing and manufacturing sector attracted the most new money, with $14.6 billion, or 47.5 % of the total new capital. Singapore was the biggest investor, putting in $9.52 billion, almost one‑third of the new capital.
Disbursed foreign investment reached $24.08 billion, up 13.1 % from last year. This is the highest 10‑month total in the past five years.
