In the first ten months of 2026, Cam Thanh nipa palm forest in Da Nang welcomed 1.65 million visitors and generated about VND50 billion (US$1.9 million) in revenue. This rapid growth makes it a useful case for studying tourism management.
Le Cong Sy, director of the public service supply center of Hoi An Dong Ward, said the 1.65 million visitors exceeded the full‑year target of 1.33 million by 320,000, more than 24 percent. He also noted that the site had already met its 2026 visitor target by the end of August.
According to Sy, the sharp increase is linked to the reorganization of sightseeing activities, tighter management, the introduction of more visitor experiences and stronger promotional efforts aimed at key markets such as South Korea. These actions reshaped the visitor experience and attracted new international tourists.
Sy highlighted that the forest provides livelihoods for thousands of local households. This employment helps sustain the local economy and ties the community’s well‑being to tourism success.
The Cam Thanh example shows how coordinated tourism strategies can quickly raise both visitor numbers and income. It demonstrates that focused re‑organization, management and promotion can turn a local forest into a major attraction.
