Grab announced a set of fee cuts and refunds that will take effect on 10 November 2024. For current or prospective drivers in Vietnam, the changes are important because they directly affect how much money they keep from each ride.
Under the new policy, the platform fee for short GrabBike and GrabCar trips will be reduced by VND1,000‑2,000 per ride. At the same time, the maximum app‑usage charge will drop from 28.76 % to 25 % for GrabBike drivers and from 28.28 % to 25 % for GrabCar drivers.
Grab also caps the combined platform and app‑usage fees at 32 % of the passenger payment, a reduction from the previous ceiling of 40.6 % for GrabBike and 39.81 % for GrabCar. Consequently, after all fees and taxes, GrabBike drivers will retain at least 60.59 % of the fare and GrabCar drivers at least 59.68 %, up from roughly 52 % before.
The company will refund about VND3.9 billion (US$151,000) to drivers who suffered deductions that exceeded the allowed limits. Active drivers will receive the money automatically in their digital wallets, while former drivers will be contacted to provide bank details by the end of November.
From November 10 the Grab Driver app will list earnings, fees, taxes and the final take‑home amount after every trip. This transparency lets drivers check deductions instantly.
