Da Nang is planning a big New Year celebration in 2027. The city hopes the festival will bring more tourists and show its cultural heritage.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the five‑day festival will run from Dec 30 2026 to Jan 3 2027 under the theme “Da Nang Welcomes the New Year with the World.” The programme includes 10 groups of cultural, artistic, tourism and experiential activities.
Major events will be held on Bach Dang pedestrian street, near Dragon Bridge, and also in Hoi An, Tam Thanh, Ban Thach and other parts of the city. Highlights are an opening ceremony on Dec 31, a countdown show called “Da Nang – Touching the Midnight Moment,” fire and water shows on Dragon Bridge, a flower‑decorated boat parade on the Han River, and non‑explosive fireworks organized by the military.
Visitors can eat at food stalls that offer more than 100 dishes, watch nightly performances, see a film showcase, take pictures at themed spots, and join a night run along the Han River. The city will also hold the Hoi An International Lantern Festival from Dec 3‑6 and cultural heritage programmes in November, all to attract more visitors.
The 2027 New Year festival shows how Da Nang uses festivals to promote its culture and boost tourism. It is an example of how a city can combine celebration and promotion to draw visitors.
