Vietnam's Exports to New Zealand See Strong Growth
Two-way trade between Vietnam and New Zealand was 844 million USD in the first half of 2026. Vietnam's exports were 399.7 million USD, up 18.8% from last year. Imports were 444 million USD.
Electronics, clothes, and farm products are Vietnam's main exports. Phones and parts led with 98 million USD, up 7%. Computers and electronics were next with 47.6 million USD, up 17.8%. Clothes made 31.6 million USD, up 14.9%, and machinery made 29.6 million USD, up 19.8%. Farm and fish products also grew strongly.
The seafood exporters association says New Zealand is a good market to expand into, but it has strict quality rules. Imported seafood must meet high standards, like those in the European Union.
From February 2027, New Zealand will have tighter controls on some seafood. This includes testing for certain bacteria. Vietnamese businesses should review their quality systems to meet these new rules.
The cashew association says New Zealand is a promising market. It imports about 1.23 million USD worth of Vietnamese cashews per month, but the price is high, showing strong demand for quality products.
Tourism is also growing. A survey found 39% of New Zealanders want to visit Vietnam. This puts Vietnam behind Japan, Singapore, and Thailand, but ahead of other countries in the region.
More New Zealanders are visiting Vietnam. In the first seven months of 2026, arrivals from New Zealand increased 19.4%. In July, they rose 22.4%.
