DR Congo to Accept Deportees from the US

A temporary system is set up in Kinshasa to receive them.
The US will provide support, and Congo will not pay for it.
The number of deportees is not known. The US has sent people to other African countries as part of its immigration policy.
Congo says it will not send migrants back to their home countries where they might be persecuted.
Congo's decision is based on its commitment to human dignity and protecting migrant rights.
This is not a permanent plan to move migrants to Congo.

The Trump administration has deported many people to third countries since last year.
Human rights groups have criticized this policy.
Congo is joining other African countries in accepting US deportees.
Last week, eight people were sent to Uganda.
The US has likely spent over $40m on deporting people to third countries.

The US is also talking to Congo about a minerals deal.
