US Open Dispute: New Champion Not Given Special Entry

Arthur Gea, a French tennis player, won his first ATP Tour title. He will not get a special entry to the US Open.

The French Tennis Federation chose Gael Monfils for the special entry. Monfils is a former world No. 6 and will retire soon.

Monfils will stop playing tennis at the end of the season. He played in the Australian Open and French Open this year.

Monfils did not play for a while. He got a special entry to the Canadian Open and won one match.

Monfils also got a special entry to the Cincinnati Open. He is a crowd favorite and has not played in the US Open semi-finals for 10 years.

Arthur Gea is unhappy because he won a title and improved his ranking. He was ranked too low to get into the US Open when entries closed.

Gea's ranking improved 45 places to No. 82. If the US Open list was made now, he would be in. But he did not get the special entry.

Gea shared a post on Instagram about not getting the special entry. He said it's a shame and he will play in the qualifications.

Gea also shared a graphic that said he has to play in the US Open qualifications.

Before winning in Los Cabos, Gea had only won three ATP Tour matches. He won five matches in a row and beat two good players to win his first title.

Gea was very happy and emotional after winning his first title. He said it was an amazing feeling.
