Why the New Spaceballs Movie Has a Different Title

Josh Greenbaum talked to Mashable about The Dink and Spaceballs: The New One. He discussed the movie's themes and working with comedy star Lynne Marie Stewart.

Fans of the 1987 Spaceballs movie wondered about the title of the new one. In the first movie, the character Yogurt said the next movie would be called Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.

Josh Greenbaum said Mel Brooks found the money for the movie in his basement. So, he doesn't need more money now.

The team liked the idea of calling the new movie Spaceballs: The New One. They thought it was funny to say it's like the old one, but new.

Josh Greenbaum said they talked to Mel Brooks about the title. They decided not to use the joke from the first movie for the title of the new one.

The new Spaceballs movie will have the original cast, including Mel Brooks and Bill Pullman. New actors like Lewis Pullman and Keke Palmer are also joining.

The movie Spaceballs: The New One will come out in the US on April 23, 2027.
