0:00It's a brand new day for Peter, so that
0:02means he's got a lot to look forward to
0:04in the future, right? From repairing his
0:07relationships to maybe donning the
0:09Symbiote suit, here's what we think is
0:11going down in the next Spider-Man movie.
0:14In No Way Home, Peter learns that even
0:16superheroes can't have their cake and
0:18eat it, too. Not only does meddling with
0:20the multiverse kill his favorite aunt,
0:22it also forces him to lose his best
0:24friend and [music] his girlfriend.
0:27>> Bro, let's all fix this.
0:30I really hate magic.
0:32>> So, it makes sense that he purposefully
0:34distances himself from everyone in Brand
0:36New Day. His loved ones won't get hurt
0:38if they don't know him, right? This, of
0:41course, doesn't preclude them from being
0:43constantly in danger in New York City,
0:45the central hub of continuous superhero
0:47caused destruction, but that's beside
0:50the point. Seriously, today wouldn't you
0:51think there'd be like a mass exodus to
0:53Omaha or Cleveland by now? By the end of
0:55the movie, MJ is at least aware of who
0:58she was to Peter before Doctor Strange
1:00cast a spell, but she's far from ready
1:02to just pick up where they left off. And
1:04Ned's in the same boat. It's only in the
1:06last moments of the movie that Peter
1:08attempts to explain to him who he really
1:10is. This means that, minus some sort of
1:13convenient wizardry on Doctor Strange's
1:15part, Peter still has a lot of work to
1:18do when it comes to mending his
1:19relationships with MJ [music] and Ned.
1:22Sure, he has lots of memories to share
1:24with them, but words alone will never be
1:26able to replace actual lived
1:28experiences, no matter how sweet and
1:30convincing they are. So, it'll [music]
1:33definitely be interesting to see how
1:35they all continue to find their way back
1:36to each other going forward.
1:39Beyond that, Peter still has more
1:40growing up to do in both an emotional
1:43sense and a superhero sense. The
1:45emotional part has more or less been the
1:47underlying plot point throughout all of
1:49Holland's standalone Spider-Man movies,
1:52in addition to being a defining feature
1:54of the character as as whole ever since
1:56he first swung onto a comic book page.
1:58As far as the MCU is concerned, we've
2:01watched him go from a bright-eyed
2:0315-year-old high school sophomore to a
2:05brooding young man in his early 20s, and
2:07he's still got a lot more suffering to
2:09do before he fully becomes a grizzled,
2:11jaded superhero
2:12>> [music]
2:13>> like the rest of his Avenger buddies.
2:15>> Give me a sec.
2:17I'm not in high school anymore. Oh.
2:20Did you stretch, you big stretcher?
2:22>> Whether that involves more of his loved
2:24ones dying or him being forced to reckon
2:26with his character flaws in direct,
2:28painful [music] ways, we don't know. All
2:31we know is that he's still kind of a
2:32young pup in comparison to others. Not
2:35to mention, people are starting to
2:36wonder if baby-faced Holland will ever
2:39look like an actual man instead of just
2:41a buff, well-toned boy. But, that's a
2:44conversation for another time.
2:46Then there's a whole deal with his
2:48burgeoning new powers. By the end of
2:50Brand New Day, [music] Peter realizes
2:52that the only way to defeat Jean Grey is
2:54to fully embrace his newly enhanced
2:56abilities. Those possessed [music] hand
2:58ninjas would have minced him to a fine
3:00pulp otherwise.
3:02He displays restraint when fighting them
3:04and makes sure not to kill them because
3:06he knows they're just Jean's puppets.
3:08Considering how he [music] completely
3:10loses his cool and nearly beats Gargan
3:12to death earlier in the movie, this
3:14[music] proves that he's already managed
3:16to control his powers and not the other
3:18way around. But, choosing restraint over
3:20violence isn't just a choice he has to
3:22make once. [music] It's a choice he's
3:24going to be forced to make again and
3:26again. That being said, we think the
3:28core thesis of Spider-Man as a whole,
3:30with great power comes great
3:32responsibility, is going to present
3:34itself in much more nuanced and
3:36challenging ways for Peter the next time
3:38he helms a solo movie.
3:40Speaking of his new powers, another
3:42thing we very well might see in the next
3:43standalone Spider-Man flick is a
3:45symbiote suit. Remember that in the
3:47first post-credit scene of No Way Home,
3:50we see Eddie Brock accidentally leave a
3:52tiny blob of it behind at the bar. So,
3:55they obviously have plans to include it
3:57at some point. Yes, it's possible that
3:59we're going to see it in Doomsday or
4:01Secret Wars before we see it again in a
4:03standalone Spider-Man movie. One theory
4:06is that Peter [music] will just show up
4:07with it in Doomsday without explanation,
4:10and that we'll actually see him stumble
4:12upon it for the first time in Secret
4:14Wars. Remember that this is how it all
4:16goes down in the Secret Wars comic. He
4:18encounters it in Battleworld and catches
4:20[music] a ride back to Earth with him.
4:22As of this video, however, everything
4:24regarding Doomsday and Secret Wars has
4:26been kept extremely hush-hush,
4:29especially Secret Wars. Not only that,
4:32we can't say with certainty whether or
4:34not Holland is going to appear in the
4:35latter in the first place. Principal
4:38photography hasn't even officially begun
4:40yet, according to [music] Anthony Russo.
4:43Plus, Holland no doubt of answering
4:44anything about it during his recent
4:46conversation with Josh Horowitz for his
4:48Happy Sad Confused podcast. [music]
4:51>> Well,
4:52I have I have absolutely
4:55>> You're You're not You're not
4:57>> making eye contact. You just went away.
4:59>> He also expressed doubts over whether or
5:01not they'll be able to do the suit
5:02justice on the big screen, at least in a
5:04way that personally satisfies them.
5:07After praising how it's portrayed in the
5:092023 Spider-Man 2 game, he said,
5:12>> I don't know how you make a suit
5:14that's similar to the one in the game
5:16without having a CG component.
5:19>> He went on to say that he would much
5:20prefer a more tactile approach, meaning
5:23practical special effects. We'd
5:25obviously be 100% [music]
5:26on board for that.
5:28It's funny Holland brought up the more
5:29recent Spider-Man games because the
5:31relationship between Peter and his
5:33multiverse counterparts, Miles Morales,
5:35is definitely something we hope pops up
5:37in [music] a future installment. While
5:39Morales has already made his mark in the
5:41Spider-Verse movies, we have yet to see
5:43a live-action version of him in the MCU.
5:46The good news is that it's pretty much
5:48guaranteed to happen. Very recently,
5:50Marvel Studios president [music] Kevin
5:52Feige told people that he certainly has
5:55plans to incorporate Morales into the
5:57MCU after the Spider-Verse trilogy wraps
6:00up in 2027.
6:02It's hard to say exactly how they'll fit
6:04him in at this point. In the Secret Wars
6:06comic run, they already know each other
6:07pretty well by that point. So, the
6:09continuity of their relationship might
6:11end up being altered quite a bit for the
6:13big screen.
6:14Whatever the case, we can't wait to see
6:16where the Spider-Man movies go from
6:18here. The possibilities are endless, and
6:21it's safe to say that we trust them to
6:22keep killing it after wowing us with the
6:24first four movies.
