Woman Jailed for Helping Foreigners Get Singapore PR Status by Fake Means

A woman in Singapore has been jailed for her role in a scheme to help foreigners get permanent resident status by fake employment.

Wang Jue, 43, received a 10-week jail term for conspiring to make a false statement to get an employment pass.

She fought the charge but was found guilty. The judge said the investment deal was fake, with the only real benefit being the employment pass.

A Chinese national paid S$360,000 to get an employment pass, which was part of a sham job arrangement to help him get PR status.

Wang was linked to another case where a Chinese national paid S$1 million to get Singapore permanent residency.

Wang helped two men make a false statement that one would work for the other's company, MW Dynamics.

One of the men, Zhang, said Wang introduced herself as an immigration agent who could help him move to Singapore.

Wang gave Zhang a proposal for investing in Singapore to get PR status, which included steps and investment plans.

Zhang signed a deal to invest S$360,000 and get a monthly dividend, and he would also get an employment pass from MW.

Even though Zhang did not work for MW, he got S$10,000 monthly for 13 months, which was his investment and dividend.

Wang's lawyer said she was just helping rich clients become permanent residents and invest in Singapore companies.

The judge said the scheme was complex and involved finding a Singapore company to take part.

Fake documents were created, and the deception lasted for about a year and a half.

The judge found that Wang was a key player in the scheme, even if she was not the mastermind.

Wang could have been jailed for up to two years and fined S$20,000 for her crime.

Wang is now appealing against her conviction and jail term.
