Canadian MP Larry Brock to Leave Politics
Larry Brock, a Conservative MP from Ontario, is leaving his job as a member of Parliament to go back to being a prosecutor.
Brock said on social media that he will officially leave his job on September 18 to return to working in the justice system in Brantford, Ontario.
Brock was first elected in 2021 and worked as a justice critic, but he was moved out of that role by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre in June.
When Brock leaves, it will create another empty seat for the Conservatives and cause a special election in his area.
Brock is the seventh MP to leave Poilievre's group since the last election, with four of them joining the Liberal party.
Brock said he wants to keep working on making his community safer and that going back to court will help him do that.
He said he was honored to work as a justice critic because he wants to improve the justice system and hold criminals accountable.
