The area is still recovering from a storm that dropped more than 120 mm of rain in parts of Cape Breton and over 200 mm in Richmond County. That storm caused severe flooding and one death.

Inverness, Victoria and Richmond counties declared local states of emergencies on Saturday because of the flooding. All three emergencies were lifted by Monday.

Officials advise residents to follow local authorities, avoid non‑essential travel, check road conditions, and never drive through floodwater.

The new rain could make already wet roads dangerous, so staying informed and following the warnings helps keep families safe.
