Hollywood Historic Trust swiftly replaces Dolly Parton's vandalized Walk of Fame star

Fans gathered flowers and candles around Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star, but within days of her death the plaque was defaced, with her name scratched out.

The Hollywood Historic Trust said the vandalism was discovered quickly and that the star had already been scheduled for repairs before the damage occurred.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the Trust and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that the repaired star was ready on Wednesday and that a brand‑new replacement would be on public view on Friday.

Dolly Parton died in Nashville, Tennessee, at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer; she had earned her place on the Walk of Fame more than four decades ago, joining over 2,800 other honorees.

The swift replacement demonstrates how the Hollywood Historic Trust works to protect and preserve the Walk of Fame, even when a beloved icon’s memorial is targeted after her passing.
