Macklemore’s $1 Million Donation After Being Cut From Ed Sheeran’s Tour

Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s “Loop Tour” after he used his MetLife Stadium opening slot on Sept. 4‑5 to call for a “Free Palestine” and to perform the anti‑Israel song “Hind’s Hall.” The stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

In an Instagram post, the 43‑year‑old rapper announced that he would donate the entire $1 million net earnings from the Loop Tour to six Palestinian humanitarian organisations: the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, the UNRWA USA National Committee and American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA). He wrote that writing a check was “one of the least costly forms of solidarity.”

Sheeran, 35, later clarified that the decision to drop Macklemore was taken by the tour promoter and the venue owners, not by him personally.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft claimed he had warned Sheeran that Macklemore would not be allowed to perform at Gillette Stadium and that he had urged other stadium owners to issue similar ultimatums. Kraft later said Sheeran had asked him to match Macklemore’s gift with a $2 million contribution.

Following Macklemore’s removal, several other opening acts – Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and the Irish group Beoga – announced they were pulling out of the Loop Tour in solidarity with the rapper.

The controversy illustrates how a public political stance can reshape a major concert tour and simultaneously motivate a high‑profile charitable donation, linking celebrity activism with real‑world aid.
