Bai Sao Beach: Soft Sand, Clear Water and Starfish Earn a Top World Ranking

Bai Sao beach is about 25 kilometers southeast of Duong Dong, and it placed 12th on the world’s 50 best beaches list.

Visitors love the beach for its fine white sand, clear water, and the occasional starfish that can be seen on the sand or in shallow water. Local people say the name ‘Bai Sao’ comes from these starfish, and they have become a popular attraction.

Phu Quoc Island, where Bai Sao is located, was voted Asia’s most beautiful island by Condé Nast Traveler readers. In the first seven months of the year the island welcomed 6.8 million tourists, a 30 % increase from last year and reaching 80 % of the target for the whole year.

The 50‑best‑beaches list is now in its eighth year. It uses official Blue Flag certifications, social‑media popularity, and recommendations from Big 7 Travel’s experts. The top three spots are: #1 Anse Source d’Argent in Seychelles, #2 Entalula Beach in the Philippines, and #3 Pink Beach on Komodo Island, Indonesia.
