0:00From Godbod to Dadbod to Dad with a
0:04Godbod, here's everything Thor's been
0:06through in 15 years of MCU twists and
0:09turns.
0:10Thor Odinson was born over 1,000 years
0:13ago to the Allfather Odin and his wife
0:15Frigga, the queen of the cosmic realm of
0:18Asgard. The Asgardians aren't gods, just
0:21near immortal cosmic beings who brought
0:23language and culture to the Norse people
0:25who then saw them as gods. As a baby,
0:27Frigga carried Thor on her chest in a
0:29battle alongside the Asgardian honor
0:32guard. Thor trained to become a warrior
0:34like Odin and inherit the Allfather's
0:36throne.
0:37>> When I'm king,
0:38I'll hunt the monsters down and slay
0:40them all.
0:43Just as you did, Father.
0:44>> Those goals were complicated a bit by
0:46the arrival of Thor's adopted brother
0:49Loki, who was the biological son of the
0:51king of the Frost Giants, Laufey. Thor
0:54and Loki share a brotherly bond, but
0:56also have an intense rivalry, which Odin
0:58only makes worse.
0:59>> Only one of you can ascend to the
1:01throne, but both of you
1:04were born to be kings.
1:06>> Loki learned sorcery and used it for
1:08cruel pranks on Thor. He once turned
1:11Thor into a frog. In another instance,
1:13>> I transformed himself into a snake, and
1:15he knows that I love snakes. So, I went
1:16to pick up the snake to admire it, and
1:18he transformed back into himself, and he
1:19was like, "Yeah, it's me." And he
1:21stabbed me.
1:22>> It becomes clear that Thor is Odin's
1:24chosen successor. Odin hosts an event
1:27where [music] Thor is to be proclaimed
1:28Asgard's ruler while the Allfather rests
1:31in the Odinsleep. This eats Loki up with
1:33jealousy. In the middle of the ceremony,
1:35Odin senses that some Frost Giants have
1:37snuck into Asgard with Loki's help to
1:40steal a powerful relic and weapon, the
1:42Casket of Ancient Winters. The
1:44Destroyer, a sentient suit of armor that
1:47is essentially a security system, kills
1:49the giants, but Thor wants revenge.
1:51>> The Jotuns must pay for what they've
1:53done.
1:53>> They have paid with their lives.
1:55>> Odin orders Thor not to attack the
1:58giants home realm, Jotunheim. But with
2:00some prodding from Loki, Thor decides to
2:03do it anyway. Joined by his old friends
2:05Sif and the Warriors Three, Hogun,
2:07Fandral, and Volstagg, Thor leads an
2:09expedition to Jotunheim. The group goes
2:12to Laufey, who advises them not to
2:14attack. But then one of the frost giants
2:15taunts Thor, leading him to unleash his
2:18fury. The group soon gets overwhelmed by
2:20the frost giant army. Fandral gets
2:22wounded. They're only saved by Odin, who
2:24tells Laufey not to start a war over
2:26Thor's actions. Laufey says the war's
2:28already started, and Odin brings the
2:30Asgardians back home. Furious, Odin
2:32calls himself a fool for thinking Thor
2:34was ready to be king. Thor defends
2:36himself, saying that the frost giants
2:38are a genuine danger. But Odin won't
2:40hear it. He strips Thor of his powers
2:42and banishes him to Earth via the
2:44Bifrost Bridge. He also puts an
2:46enchantment on Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.
2:49>> Whosoever holds [music] this hammer,
2:51if he be worthy, shall possess the power
2:53of Thor.
2:54>> The depowered Thor is teleported to New
2:56[music] Mexico, where he quickly
2:58encounters scientists Jane Foster, Erik
3:00Selvig, and Darcy Lewis. Specifically,
3:03Jane hits him with her van.
3:04>> Do me a favor and don't be dead.
3:06>> As Thor shouts about Heimdall and the
3:08Bifrost, the scientists assume he's
3:10unwell. Darcy knocks him unconscious
3:12with a taser. Thor wakes up in a
3:14hospital, where he is not pleased by the
3:16idea of someone trying to draw his
3:18blood. He attacks hospital staffers, who
3:20then sedate him and restrain him to the
3:22bed. Yet Thor manages to escape,
3:24wandering out into the road, where Jane
3:27hits him with her van again.
3:29>> I'm so sorry. I swear I'm not doing this
3:31on purpose.
3:32>> The scientists bring Thor back to their
3:34lab and give him some clothes that once
3:36belonged to a Dr. Donald Blake. In the
3:38comics, Dr. Donald Blake was one of
3:41several human alter egos Thor has had
3:43over the years. Often, these periods of
3:45life on Earth with a human counterpart
3:47have been challenges Odin has imposed on
3:49Thor to teach him humility. But in the
3:51movies, Odin just takes his powers away.
3:54Thor gets hungry and eats some diner
3:56food, getting his first ever taste of
3:58coffee in process.
3:59>> This drink, I like it.
4:01>> I know, it's great, right?
4:02>> Another.
4:04>> Thor also strikes up a relationship with
4:06Jane. Though he's had many romantic
4:08conquests over the centuries, Jane winds
4:10up being the one he really falls for.
4:12Thor knows that Mjolnir is still in the
4:14spot where he materialized, so Jane
4:16gives him a ride back there. Shield has
4:18set up a makeshift research facility
4:20around the hammer, which no one can
4:22lift, including Thor himself. He isn't
4:24worthy. Thor falls to his knees and
4:26prays to Odin to no avail. Shield
4:28officer Phil Coulson enters with a group
4:30of agents, and they arrest Thor,
4:33mistaking him for an elite soldier.
4:34Coulson interrogates Thor, who provides
4:37no answers. When Coulson briefly leaves
4:39the room, Loki appears to Thor and
4:41repeatedly lies to it. He says Odin is
4:43dead. He isn't. He also says that Frigga
4:46has forbidden Thor's return to Asgard,
4:48though she desperately wants him to come
4:50back.
4:50>> We mustn't lose hope that your father
4:53will return to us.
4:56And your brother.
4:57>> Despite having known Loki for hundreds
4:59of years, Thor still believes it. Thor
5:01gets out of Shield custody thanks to
5:03Erik. The next morning, the Warriors
5:05Three and Sif find Thor. They inform him
5:08about Loki's lies. Odin is not dead, and
5:10Loki is king of Asgard. Not only that,
5:13but Loki has struck up a deal with the
5:15Frost Giants, [music] offering Asgard to
5:17them. Soon after, Loki sends the
5:19Destroyer to New Mexico to kill Thor.
5:21Thor's Asgardian friends attempt to
5:23fight it off, but it proves too
5:25powerful. So, Thor steps in to defend
5:27them, despite his depowered state. This
5:29act of self-sacrifice is enough to prove
5:31Thor worthy of his godly abilities. So,
5:34his armor is restored, and Mjolnir flies
5:36back to it. That's more than enough for
5:38him to take down the Destroyer. Thor
5:40returns to Asgard to confront Loki, who
5:42reveals his double cross. His deal with
5:44the Frost Giants was a trick to get them
5:46close so he could kill Laufey. Loki also
5:49plans to destroy Jotunheim using the
5:51Bifrost, but Thor stops him by
5:53destroying the bridge, effectively
5:55cutting himself off from Earth and Jane.
5:57Odin awakens and tries to save both his
5:59sons, but Loki allows himself to fall
6:02into the abyss when he doesn't get
6:03Odin's approval for his actions as king.
6:05Thor and Odin finally make amends.
6:08>> Someday, perhaps. [music]
6:11I shall make you proud.
6:14>> You've already made me proud.
6:16>> Loki's fall doesn't kill him. In fact,
6:18it brings him straight to Thanos, who
6:19makes him an offer to become ruler of
6:22Earth. Loki is given a scepter, which,
6:24unbeknownst to him, contains the Mind
6:26Stone, which is influencing his
6:27thoughts. All Thanos wants in exchange
6:29is the all-powerful Tesseract, which is
6:32really the Space Stone and in Shield's
6:34possession. The Bifrost is still broken,
6:35but Odin manages to send Thor to Earth.
6:38With Loki in Avengers custody, Thor
6:40lands on their Quinjet to try to bring
6:42Loki back to Asgard. Thor takes Loki
6:44down to the surface, so Iron Man follows
6:47and attacks Thor. Captain America
6:48eventually breaks up the fight and they
6:50realize they're on the same side. Thor
6:52goes with the others to the Shield
6:54Helicarrier. He lets them know that Loki
6:56has an army of alien Chitauri at his
6:58disposal. They let him know that Loki
7:00has captured Erik Selvig, but Jane
7:02Foster is in a secure location. The
7:04scepter makes everyone on board the
7:06Helicarrier angry and belligerent. That
7:08leads to a destructive fight between
7:10Thor and the Hulk, which finally ends
7:12when Hulk is distracted by a jet. After
7:14becoming separated from the Avengers for
7:16a while thanks to [music] Loki's
7:18trickery, Thor rejoins them for the
7:19Battle of New York, where they work
7:21together to defeat Loki and wipe out the
7:23Chitauri. Thor joins his new teammates
7:25for some shawarma before heading back to
7:27Asgard with Loki, the Tesseract, and the
7:29scepter. Upon returning to Asgard, Thor
7:32gives Heimdall, the steward of the
7:34Bifrost, the Tesseract so that he can
7:36repair the bridge. Thor also gets
7:38involved in an ongoing war between
7:40Asgard and the Marauders, a group that
7:42has been causing problems all over the
7:44nine realms. He arrives in Vanaheim in
7:46the midst of a battle and is confronted
7:48by a huge Kronan stone man. Thor reduces
7:51the creature to rocks with Mjolnir,
7:52essentially ending the conflict in one
7:54blow. As Asgard celebrates, Thor wonders
7:57whether he should become king of Asgard.
7:59Odin openly asks why his son's still
8:01carrying a torch for Jane Foster when
8:03Sif is right there.
8:04>> Human lives are fleeting, they're
8:06nothing.
8:07You'd be better served by what lies in
8:08front of you.
8:09>> Yet Thor turns down an invitation from
8:11Sif for a drink, instead going to check
8:13on Jane, who Heimdall can't see at the
8:15moment. That's because she's
8:17inadvertently been teleported to a world
8:19containing the Aether, the material that
8:21makes up the reality stone. Jane becomes
8:23bonded to the Aether, which draws the
8:25attention of the evil dark elf Malekith.
8:28Worried for Jane's safety, Thor returns
8:30to Earth and finds her in London. After
8:32she ensures he's really Thor,
8:34>> Jane.
8:38>> I'm sorry. I just
8:40needed to make sure you were real.
8:41>> And gives him another slap for not
8:43visiting during the Avengers, they go to
8:45Asgard together. Healers examine Jane
8:47and the Aether's power comes out. That
8:49worries Odin, who explains that Malekith
8:51once attempted to use the Aether to
8:53destroy the universe. Unfortunately,
8:56Odin doesn't know how to unbond Jane
8:58from the stuff. Jane remains in Asgard
9:00in hopes of figuring that out. Then all
9:02hell breaks loose. Lots of Marauder
9:04prisoners escape Asgard's dungeons just
9:07as the dark elves launch an invasion.
9:08Malekith wants to restart his universe
9:10destruction plan. In the chaos, [music]
9:12Frigga, who is using her powers to hide
9:14Jane, is stabbed to death by one of
9:16Malekith's lieutenants, Kurse. An
9:18enraged Thor burns half of Malekith's
9:21face with lightning. Asgard holds a
9:22funeral for Frigga and all the other
9:25Asgardians killed in the attack. Odin
9:27orders that Jane be kept in Asgard
9:29despite Thor's assertions that Malekith
9:31will return for the Aether. Odin decides
9:33he will fight a war against the dark
9:34elves as his ancestors did. But Thor
9:37notices his father is becoming
9:39noticeably weaker. Thor devises a plan
9:41to get Jane out of Asgard. To help in
9:43this active treason, he recruits
9:45Heimdall, Sif, the Warriors Three, and
9:48Loki. Thor goes to the dungeons to work
9:50out a deal with his brother, who
9:52surprisingly [music]
9:52stayed put in his cell during the
9:54earlier escape.
9:55>> You betray me, and I will kill you.
9:57When do we start?
9:59>> The whole group, along with Jane,
10:00escapes to Svartalfheim, the home of the
10:02Dark Elves. When they spot Malekith,
10:04Thor and Loki launch their deceptive
10:06[music] plan, staging a brutal fight to
10:08make it appear as if Loki is betraying
10:10him. Malekith approaches and begins to
10:11draw the Aether out of Jane. Thor then
10:14reveals their ruse, attacking the
10:15Aether. Unfortunately, it isn't
10:17destroyed, and Malekith recovers and
10:19absorbs it. Malekith escapes, ordering
10:22Kurse and other Dark Elf soldiers to
10:24kill the Asgardians. Thor and Kurse
10:26struggle, but Loki draws Kurse's
10:28attention by stabbing it. Unfazed, Kurse
10:30grabs Loki and appears to mortally wound
10:32him by stabbing him with the blade
10:34that's in his own chest. Before
10:36appearing to die, Loki kills Kurse with
10:38one of Kurse's black hole grenades.
10:40>> I'll tell Frigga what you did here
10:42today.
10:44>> I didn't do it for him.
10:46>> Thor and Jane hide from a storm in a
10:48cave, where they find a portal that
10:49takes them back to London. After
10:51conferring with Erik and Darcy, Thor
10:53draws Malekith to the Royal Navy College
10:55for a final showdown. They blast each
10:57other with their respective powers,
10:58[music] fighting all over London and
11:01throughout the realms. Thor follows
11:02Malekith into the Aether and uses a
11:05gravimetric spike to send [music] him to
11:07Svartalfheim. The force of the blast
11:09knocks Thor out, but luckily, Malekith
11:11is killed when his own ship falls on it.
11:13Back in Asgard, Thor [music] rejects the
11:15throne, saying he'd rather live on Earth
11:17with Jane.
11:17>> I will protect Asgard and all the realms
11:21with my last and every breath, but I
11:22cannot do [music] so from that chair.
11:24>> He also tells Odin about Loki's heroism,
11:26unaware that he's actually speaking to a
11:29still-alive Loki posing as his father.
11:31[music] Thor and Jane spend the next
11:33several months together doing Earth
11:34things, like rollerblading and going to
11:36costume parties. But, fully aware that
11:38she's mortal, Thor begins to worry about
11:40losing Jane. He starts to pull away from
11:42her and focus far more on his
11:44responsibilities with the Avengers as
11:46they work to take down the terrorist
11:47organization Hydra. After successfully
11:50retrieving Loki's stolen scepter from
11:52Hydra, the Avengers throw a party at
11:54their headquarters. At one point,
11:56everyone but Thor tries to lift Mjolnir,
11:58and they all fail except for Captain
12:00America, who just budges it. Soon after,
12:02[music] they're attacked by Ultron, an
12:04android created by Tony Stark and Bruce
12:06Banner. A drone steals the scepter. Thor
12:08destroys that particular Ultron vessel
12:11with Mjolnir, but it's clear his
12:12consciousness can shift between robotic
12:14bodies. Thor blames Tony for creating
12:17Ultron. The Avengers track Ultron to a
12:19salvage yard in Johannesburg, where Thor
12:21attempts to reason with the android.
12:23>> If you believe in peace, then let us
12:25[music] keep it.
12:26>> I think you're confusing peace with
12:28quiet.
12:29>> That doesn't work, and there's a
12:30drag-out fight. In the scrum, the
12:32Scarlet Witch attacks Thor's mind. He
12:34sees a dark future for Asgard. [music]
12:36Hawkeye takes the team to his home to
12:37recover, but Thor leaves to figure out
12:40what his premonitions were all about.
12:42Thor finds Erik and asks him to [music]
12:43accompany him to find the mythic water
12:45of sight. They find it, and Thor enters.
12:48He once again sees a ruined Asgard, the
12:50Infinity Stones, and the deaths of many
12:52of his friends. He also learns about the
12:54birth of the heroic android the Vision,
12:56who can help them defeat Ultron. Thor
12:58reunites with the Avengers, who are
13:00arguing over Ultron's creation of a new
13:03android powered by the Mind Stone. But,
13:05thanks to his time in the water of
13:06sight, Thor knows this is a good
13:08automaton and brings the Vision to life
13:11with lightning. The Avengers travel to
13:12the European nation of Sokovia, where
13:15Ultron's carrying out his plans. Ultron
13:17raises the city of Novigrad high into
13:19the sky, planning to drop it to Earth
13:22and cause a massively destructive
13:23shockwave. Thor works to save the
13:25kidnapped Black Widow, fight Ultron
13:27sentries, and save civilians. Thor then
13:29gets into a one-on-one fight with
13:31Ultron, which he loses. Noticing the
13:34arriving Vision, Thor gives a blustery
13:36speech.
13:37>> As long as there is life in my breast, I
13:40am running out of things to say. Are you
13:42ready?
13:43>> Which serves as a distraction for
13:45Vision, who can lift Mjolnir to knock
13:47Ultron away. Ultron does ultimately
13:49succeed in dropping Novigrad toward
13:52Earth, however, which leads Thor to
13:54create a chain reaction that destroys
13:55the now evacuated city entirely. Having
13:58seen flashes of Asgard's doom, Thor
14:00decides to leave the Avengers to try to
14:02save his home. That means he sits out
14:04the Civil War. As he and Jane continue
14:06to drift apart, she breaks up with him
14:08in a letter. Thor's premonitions got
14:10clearer and more detailed, involving the
14:12fire demon Surtur destroying Asgard. So,
14:15Thor goes to his home of Muspelheim and
14:18confronts [music] him. Surtur says that
14:19Thor's visions are the prophesized
14:21Ragnarok, which is coming soon. Thor
14:23seemingly kills the demon and narrowly
14:26escapes Muspelheim with Surtur's crown.
14:28He returns to Asgard, where [music]
14:29things are weird. Heimdall has been
14:31exiled. There are melodramatic plays
14:33honoring Loki.
14:34>> I'm sorry I
14:36tried to rule Earth.
14:38>> They'd be lucky to have you.
14:39>> Thor finally reveals that Loki has been
14:41posing as Odin and forces Loki to reveal
14:44where the real Allfather is. Loki says
14:46that Odin is at a care home on Earth,
14:49but when he and Thor arrive there, it's
14:50been demolished. Thankfully, they
14:52encounter Doctor Strange, who hopefully
14:54says that Odin is in Norway, while also
14:57asking Thor to get Loki the heck off of
14:59Earth. Thor and Loki meet with Odin in
15:01Norway. Odin explains that Ragnarok is
15:03coming with the arrival of his firstborn
15:05daughter, Hela, who has been banished
15:07for millennia. Odin then dies beside his
15:09two sons, [music] with his body
15:11dissipating into light. Before Thor and
15:13Loki get a chance to mourn, Hela comes
15:15through a portal and declares herself
15:17queen of Asgard, ordering them to bow.
15:20Thor throws Mjolnir at her, and she
15:22destroys the hammer right in front of
15:23him. A panicked Loki calls for the
15:25Bifrost bridge, which gives Hela just
15:27what she wants: access to Asgard. She
15:29throws both Thor and Loki out of the
15:31beam. Thor lands on the planet Sakaar
15:34[music] in a wasteland littered with
15:35junk from the nine realms. He's captured
15:37by the drunk final survivor of the
15:39Valkyries, who fits him with an
15:41obedience disc. Valkyrie takes Thor to
15:43Sakaar's ruler, the Grandmaster, who
15:45decides Thor will be a gladiator in
15:47Sakaar's Contest of Champions. Before
15:50challenging the champion, though, Thor
15:51encounters Loki, who has already been on
15:53Sakaar for several weeks and earned the
15:56Grandmaster's favor. Thor also meets
15:58Korg, an exiled member of the Kronan
16:00resistance, and Miek, an insectoid. They
16:02become fast friends. Thor's hair is
16:04forcibly cut, and he's thrown into
16:06combat with none other than the Hulk.
16:08>> We know each other. He's a friend from
16:10work.
16:11>> Thor tries to get through to Bruce
16:13Banner. The Hulk insists there is no
16:15Banner anymore. After a back-and-forth
16:16[music]
16:17fight, Thor finally puts the Hulk on the
16:19ropes with a lightning-charged punch.
16:21But, the Grandmaster doesn't wish to see
16:23his champion lose. So, he activates
16:26Thor's obedience disc, incapacitating
16:28him. After coming to, Thor attempts to
16:30escape, but learns he's being imprisoned
16:32on Sakaar. Through meditation, Thor
16:35manages to contact Heimdall, who is
16:37leading a resistance effort in Asgard.
16:39Hela has killed the Warriors Three and
16:41is threatening just about everyone else.
16:43Heimdall suggests Thor use one of the
16:44wormholes in the Sakaar sky to escape.
16:47>> When a planet's surrounded by doorways,
16:49go through Which one?
16:50>> The big one.
16:51>> Thor attempts to get Valkyrie to join
16:53him in a campaign against Hela, but she
16:55wants nothing to do with it. Hela killed
16:57everyone else in the Valkyrie squadron,
16:59leading to her swearing off any
17:01association with Asgard's royal family.
17:03[music] Thor does manage to deactivate
17:05his obedience disc, though, allowing him
17:07to leave his prison. Thor tries to
17:09escape on the Quinjet that brought the
17:11Hulk to Sakaar, but is interrupted by
17:13the Hulk. When a recording of Black
17:15Widow accidentally plays, Hulk finally
17:17turns back into Banner. Thor and Banner
17:19regroup with Valkyrie, who has decided
17:21to help after all, and Loki. As it turns
17:23out, Grandmaster has soured on the
17:25trickster, so he suggests starting a
17:27revolution on Sakaar to create a
17:29distraction for their escape. They break
17:31the Contest of Champions gladiators
17:33[music] out of their cells. While trying
17:35to steal the Grandmaster's ship, Loki
17:37attempts to double-cross Thor, who then
17:39fits his brother with an obedience disc
17:41and leaves him behind. With the
17:42Grandmaster's ship, Thor, Banner, and
17:44Valkyrie fly through the big wormhole,
17:46the Devil's Anus, and make their way
17:48back to Asgard. Thor challenges Hela to
17:51a fight in the Asgardian throne room.
17:53She [music] proves to be a very skilled
17:55fighter, cutting out Thor's right eye.
17:57Thor sees a vision of Odin, who tells
17:58his son that he doesn't need Mjolnir to
18:00defeat Hela. He's the god of thunder, he
18:02also explains.
18:04>> Asgard is not a place. Never was.
18:08This could be Asgard.
18:09>> After reuniting with Loki on the Rainbow
18:11Bridge, Thor realizes that the only way
18:13to defeat Hela is to bring about
18:16Ragnarok himself. So, Loki goes to
18:18revive Surtur and the Eternal Flame.
18:20Just as Hela appears to have the upper
18:22hand once again, Surtur smashes through
18:24the Royal Palace and begins laying waste
18:26to Asgard. [music]
18:27He also kills Hela with his sword. The
18:29survivors of Asgard pile onto a large
18:31ship, the Statesman, and become a
18:33society of refugees. Heimdall observes
18:35that Asgard is a people, not a place.
18:37Thor begins wearing an eye patch and is
18:39declared king aboard the ship. The
18:42Asgardians respite is short-lived. As
18:44they make their way to Earth on the
18:45Statesman, the ship is attacked by
18:47Thanos and his Black Order as they
18:49systematically collect the Infinity
18:51Stones. Many of the Asgardians leave on
18:53escape pods, while Thor [music] and Loki
18:55stay behind to fight. Thanos tortures
18:57Thor to try to get Loki to give up the
18:59Tesseract, [music] which Loki has been
19:00hiding. Thanos kills both Heimdall and
19:03Loki, taking the Space Stone from within
19:05the Tesseract. Thanos and the Black
19:07Order leave, leaving Thor to mourn Loki.
19:09Thor Thor rescued [music] by the
19:10Guardians of the Galaxy, who agree to
19:12take him to the forge at Nidavellir, the
19:14home of the dwarves. Rocket Raccoon also
19:17gives him a new eye. Accompanied by
19:18[music] Rocket and Groot, Thor convinces
19:20the dwarf king Eitri to make him a new
19:23axe. Thor gets badly burned in the
19:25process of re-igniting the forge to
19:27[music] make the weapon, but Groot does
19:28some quick thinking and creates a handle
19:30for the axe, completing the new
19:31Stormbreaker. Its completion heals Thor.
19:34Thor [music] travels to Wakanda to join
19:36the battle there against Thanos' forces.
19:38Thanos himself arrives and acquires the
19:40Mind Stone from Vision, completing his
19:42Infinity Gauntlet. Thor attacks Thanos
19:45with Stormbreaker but doesn't instantly
19:47kill him. That gives Thanos enough time
19:48to snap away [music] half of all life in
19:51the universe.
19:52>> You should have gone for the head.
19:56>> Wracked with [music] guilt and anger,
19:57Thor joins a team of the surviving
19:59Avengers to go to the garden planet
20:01where Thanos resides. This time, Thor
20:03[music] cuts his head off, but Thanos
20:05has destroyed the Infinity Stones, which
20:07means his snap can't be reversed.
20:09Killing Thanos does not make Thor
20:11[music] feel better. He spends the next
20:12five years hanging out in the
20:14ex-Guardian's Norwegian refuge, New
20:16[music] Asgard. He puts on weight from
20:18drinking and spends most of his time
20:19playing video games with his buddies
20:21Meek [music] and Korg. Hulk and Rocket
20:23come to Thor's house to get him to join
20:25the Avengers time heist plan to gather
20:27the Infinity Stones in the past and undo
20:29the snap. Thor takes some convincing but
20:31agrees. Thor and Rocket go back [music]
20:33to Asgard in 2013 to acquire the Aether,
20:36aka the Reality Stone. Upon seeing
20:38Frigga, who he knows will die that day,
20:41has a panic attack.
20:42>> I can't do this.
20:44I can't do this. I shouldn't be here. I
20:46shouldn't have come.
20:48>> But a heart-to-heart with Frigga and a
20:50reminder that he's still worthy of
20:52Mjolnir boosts Thor's spirits. Rocket
20:54successfully obtains the Reality Stone
20:56and he and Thor [music] head back to the
20:58present. Thor brings Mjolnir back with
21:00him. All of the Avengers return to the
21:02present with the six stones. Thor is
21:04saddened to hear about the death of
21:06Black Widow and that it can't be
21:08reversed, but they build a new gauntlet
21:09to undo Thanos' snap. Thor volunteers to
21:12do it, but it's ultimately decided that
21:14Hulk should. [music] The Avengers
21:15compound is then attacked by a time
21:17traveling Thanos from 2014. This [music]
21:20Thanos aims to use the stones to simply
21:22destroy the universe outright and create
21:24a new one without the Avengers.
21:26Alongside Iron Man and Captain America,
21:28Thor wields both Mjolnir and
21:30Stormbreaker in the fight. Thanos
21:32disarms and nearly kills Thor at one
21:34point, but he's saved by Cap, who now is
21:37fully worthy [music] to wield the
21:38hammer.
21:39>> I knew it.
21:40>> In the nick of time, all the snapped
21:42away heroes return. The massive battle
21:44finally ends when Tony Stark obtains the
21:47Infinity Stones and performs a snap of
21:49his own, wiping away Thanos and his
21:51[music] army. The force of the snap
21:52kills Tony and Thor joins the mourners
21:55at his funeral. Realizing he needs a new
21:57path in his life, Thor makes Valkyrie
21:59king of New Asgard and flies off with
22:02the Guardians [music] of the Galaxy for
22:03some space adventures. Captain America
22:05takes Mjolnir back to 2013. During his
22:08travels with the Guardians, Thor gets
22:10[music] back into shape. He also gets
22:12the goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder
22:14as both reward and punishment for
22:16destroying a temple while saving some
22:18aliens from invaders. On the Guardians'
22:20ship, Thor sees a distress call from Sif
22:23stating that [music] Gorr the God
22:25Butcher is killing gods throughout the
22:26universe. He's seeking revenge on gods
22:29over the death of his daughter. Thor
22:30parts ways with the Guardians and finds
22:32the injured Sif. He brings her along
22:35with Korg and [music] the goats to New
22:37Asgard. That night, New Asgard is
22:39attacked by Gorr's forces. Gorr [music]
22:41kidnaps the town's children. In the
22:42fight, Thor sees a repaired Mjolnir
22:44flying around. He tries to call it to
22:46himself, but it instead flies to the
22:48hand of Jane Foster, who is now the
22:51Mighty Thor.
22:52>> How?
22:56>> Can we talk about this later?
22:57>> [screaming]
22:58>> As it turns out, Jane has terminal
23:00cancer. Mjolnir called out to her and
23:02reassembled itself to grant her good
23:04health when it's in her possession. In
23:06the hopes of saving the kids, Thor,
23:08Jane, Valkyrie, and [music] Korg go to
23:10Omnipotence City to ask Zeus for help.
23:13It devolves into a fight where
23:14everything but Korg's face is destroyed.
23:17Thor ends up seemingly killing Zeus and
23:19they escape with one of his lightning
23:21bolts.
23:22The kids are only bait. Gor wants to
23:24lure [music] Thor to him so he can take
23:26Stormbreaker. He wants to use it to open
23:28the gates of eternity where he can ask
23:30the embodiment of the universe to make
23:32gods extinct. Thor finds Gor at the
23:34gates where he enlists the Asgardian
23:36children's help to stop the [music] god
23:38butcher using Zeus's lightning bolt.
23:40When it looks like Gor has Thor beat,
23:42Mighty Thor arrives to help enabling the
23:45kids to escape but putting her life at
23:46risk. Mjolnir is once again destroyed in
23:49the battle leading to Jane becoming
23:51fully mortal again. Gor [music] goes
23:53through the gate. Thor and Jane find
23:55themselves in eternity's realm with him.
23:57Gor is shocked to find that Thor isn't
23:59fighting him. He's instead cradling Jane
24:01as she dies.
24:02>> Why would I spend my last moments with
24:04you when I can be with her?
24:07I choose love.
24:09You can too. You can bring her back.
24:11>> Gor wishes for his daughter, Love, to
24:13come back to life. She does before she
24:15and Gor die. Jane promises that [music]
24:17Thor will take care of Love. So Thor
24:19adopts the young girl and trains her as
24:21a warrior giving her Stormbreaker.
24:22[music]
24:23Now being father to Love seems to be
24:25Thor's chief responsibility even into
24:27the events of Avengers: Doomsday but he
24:29has taken Stormbreaker back.
24:31>> Defeat one more enemy
24:34and return home to her.
24:36Not as a warrior but as warmth.
