0:10an intense Democratic Senate primary

0:12race between the progressive candidate

0:14Abdul Elsed and his opponent, the

0:17centrist Representative Haley Stevens.

0:19We went to Michigan and we talked to

0:21young people across the state and found

0:23one major issue on their minds,

0:25affordability. Especially college

0:27students, you experience um the heavy

0:30costs of living, the economy, um

0:32students on campus, especially MSU, like

0:35um a lot of things that people care

0:36about are the data centers, ICE. Those

0:38are some of the biggest issues we see,

0:40especially with MSU Dems. Um and GE

0:42people are really outspoken, too. And I

0:43feel like politicians need to understand

0:45that because we can help uplift the

0:47politicians we care about and help get

0:49them to win, especially in primaries.

0:50>> I think cost of living is too high. I

0:53live in a college town. I live in

0:54Indiana. It's not supposed to be

0:56expensive, but it is. And I don't know.

1:00I That's upsetting. That's unfair for

1:01people who have been there for a long

1:03time. And people I went to high school

1:04with, people I went to school with.

1:06People have been here for so long. And

1:07it's unfair. It's unfair to Michigan.

1:09There's It's unfair to people in the

1:10Midwest who've been here for so long who

1:12have their entire family here, their

1:14entire like entire legacy here

1:16essentially. It's unfair for those

1:18people to um not be able to afford where

1:20they have been born and raised and

1:22everything they know here.
