0:02Zak Pagod is more than a spiritual

0:04refuge for the Vietnamese community. It

0:07is also a place where the Vietnamese

0:10language, culture, and traditions are

0:11preserved. Through community activities,

0:14the pagoda brings generations of

0:16Vietnamese together, keeping a sense of

0:18home close and warm even far from

0:20Vietnam.

0:25After more than 30 years in Budapest,

0:28Buri Kimsa still remembers the early

0:30days of building the isapagota together.

0:33Back then, a sh spiritual home and a

0:36place to stay connected to Vietnam was

0:38only a dream.

0:41With land, labor, and financial

0:43contributions, the Vietnamese community

0:45turned that dream into reality.

0:53When we first started building the

0:55pagod, money and labor were both in

0:57short supply. Even after long days at

1:00work, they would come back in the

1:01freezing winter with bleeding hands, yet

1:04still carry cement and bricks to build

1:06the pagod.

1:14about bringing Vietnamese Buddhist

1:16values and culture closer to the

1:18community.

1:19The isapagota is no longer only a place

1:22of worship for older generations.

1:24Increasingly, young people and vitamin

1:26children are joining religious

1:28celebrations, [music] classes, and

1:30community activities.

1:37Even thousands of miles from home,

1:39Vietnamese people still cherish the

1:40traditions of their ancestors and have

1:43come together to build a pagoda here in

1:46Hungary.

1:52>> Beyond Buddhist festivals such as Vesak

1:54and Vuan, the Isapagota also host

1:56cultural and community activities for

1:58Vietnamese in Hungary through

2:01connections with local universities and

2:03Buddhist organizations. The Pagoda

2:05creates opportunities for cultural

2:07exchange, research, [music] and sharing

2:09Vietnamese culture and Buddhism with

2:11Hungarian people.

2:16By working closely with our Hungarian

2:18partners, we can further advance the

2:20teaching, research, and recognition of

2:22Vietnamese Buddhism in Europe within a

2:24social context very different from that

2:26of Vietnam.

2:35compassion and letting go of hatred, we

2:38build happier families and a more

2:40peaceful world, bringing generation

2:42together and strengthening our
