Vietnam May Have a Longer Culture Day Holiday
The ministry has two ideas. One idea is for public workers to take Monday, November 23, off and work on Saturday, November 28. This would make a four-day holiday from November 21 to November 24.
The other idea is to keep the holiday the same, with only November 24 off.
This is to help culture and people spend money in Vietnam.
A longer holiday would give people more time to enjoy cultural activities on Vietnam Culture Day.
It would also help tourism and shopping in Vietnam.
The ministry says swapping one workday would not change the total number of workdays and would keep government offices working normally.
Private companies are encouraged to think about doing something similar.
November 24 is a paid holiday for all workers in Vietnam.
The ministry wants private companies to think about giving their workers a four-day holiday if possible, while still following the law.
The ministry also wants companies to talk to their workers about giving them even more time off if they can.
A new holiday starts in 2026.
This is because of a new law that started on July 1, 2026, making Vietnam Culture Day a paid holiday.
The ministry wants to decide on the holiday schedule early so companies and government offices can plan.
For 2027, November 24 is on a Wednesday, so workers would just have that day off.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour also thinks a longer holiday would be good for workers to rest and help tourism.
