Kites with Lights Stop Flights at Airport

The kites had flashing lights and were flown at night. This made people think they were drones, and the airport had to stop working for a bit on August 13.
Air traffic controllers saw something in the air at 7:40 p.m. They thought it might be a drone. Then, they saw it again at 8:02 p.m. over another area near the airport. The controllers were not sure what it was. They had to tell the airport to be careful.
The object was seen again over Tay Thanh Ward. This area is near the airport. The controllers were still trying to figure out what it was. They were watching it closely.
The airport had to stop all flights because of the possible danger. This was done to keep everyone safe.
Planes that were already coming to the airport had to fly in circles. Planes that were getting ready to leave had to stay on the ground.
The stop only lasted 14 minutes, but 21 flights were affected. Some planes had to wait, one plane went to a different airport, and other planes had to fly in circles.
By 8:34 p.m., the controllers knew the objects were just kites with lights. They were not drones.
The kites were flown about 2.5 kilometers from the airport. They went up to 400 meters in the air. This is the same air that planes use when they land.
The police came and took care of the problem. They followed the rules to deal with it.
This happened just two days after the airport had to stop working twice because of drones. Those incidents affected 73 flights.
Now, people are worried about things flying near the airport. This is especially true for the air that planes use when they take off and land.
The airport is trying to stay safe. They do not want any more problems with drones or kites.
