NYT Pips Game Help for August 1, 2026
Pips is a fun game that is like dominoes, but with a twist. It was released in August 2025 and can be played every day.
If you get stuck, the game will show you the whole puzzle, but we can help with smaller hints. We have answers to help you with each level.
If you have played dominoes, you will know how to play Pips. The tiles are placed up and down or side to side and connect. The difference is that Pips has color codes that you must follow.
The color codes have rules. For example, if a code has a number, the tiles in that space must add up to that number. Sometimes, only half a tile is in a color-coded space.
Here are some common color codes you will see:
Number: All the dots on the tiles in this space must add up to the number.
Equal: All the halves of the tiles in this space must have the same number of dots.
Not Equal: All the halves of the tiles in this space must have different numbers of dots.
Less than: All the halves of the tiles in this space must add up to less than the number.
Greater than: All the halves of the tiles in this space must add up to more than the number.
If a space has no color code, it means there are no rules for the tiles in that space.
