Singapore Woman Finds Dead Cockroach in Soy Milk

Riley Rhonda Tay shared her bad experience on Facebook on July 25.

She bought three cups of soy milk from Alley Wei's Tampines Mall outlet. She then went to a nearby clinic with her parents. She found a dead cockroach in her cup later.

Tay found a dead cockroach in her cup while at the clinic. She was very upset. After the clinic, she went back to the outlet to tell them about the cockroach.

The cashier said sorry and offered to give her money back and replace the soy milk.

A chef in the kitchen told her they could only give her money back and replace the soy milk.

Tay did not want just a refund. She thought the restaurant should stop selling the soy milk and give her a new drink that was not contaminated.

The restaurant did not stop selling the soy milk. Tay was very angry when she left.

Tay talked to a manager from the restaurant later. She wanted a public apology on social media.

The restaurant told 8world that they clean the outlet regularly and check for pests every month.

The outlet cleaned all the food areas after Tay complained. But they could not find out how the cockroach got into the cup.

Alley Wei threw away the bad soy milk and reminded staff to follow food hygiene rules.

The company told Tampines Mall's management about the incident. The food agency inspected the outlet and did not find any big hygiene problems.
