A Canadian drone maker has just secured a $10 million U.S. investment that ties back to a firm associated with Donald Trump Jr., prompting questions about political influence and shareholder rights.
Draganfly Inc., based in Saskatoon, received the cash from two U.S. sources: an unnamed investment fund and Unusual Machines Inc., each contributing $5 million. The money was used to purchase 1,869,159 common shares at $5.35 per share.
Unusual Machines Inc., a supplier of drone components, is linked to Donald Trump Jr.; the former placed the former president’s son on its advisory board in November 2024.
A Draganfly spokesperson clarified that the investment carries no board seats or any special rights for the investors. The company said the funds will finance new hires and expand its manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand.
The arrangement draws attention because the involvement of a Trump‑connected firm could be perceived as political leverage, yet Draganfly’s explicit denial of preferential terms aims to reassure shareholders that control remains unchanged.
