If you love coffee, you might be surprised to learn that Ho Chi Minh City is now the world’s second‑best coffee destination.
The 2026 Holafly Coffee Travel Index gave Ho Chi Minh City 66.8 points. It placed the city second, behind Colombia’s Eje Cafetero region (71.4 points) and ahead of Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa (64.1 points).
Holafly evaluated 18 coffee‑centric cities using five equally weighted categories: coffee origin heritage, cafe density, coffee tourism infrastructure, specialty coffee affordability and global demand. Each category contributed 20 % to the final score.
Holafly noted that a specialty pour‑over coffee or traditional sweet iced coffee costs around $2 on average, and that visitors can choose between tiny sidewalk stalls with plastic stools and modern, air‑conditioned specialty cafés.
Holafly also cited Vietnam’s distinctive Robusta beans as a key factor behind the city’s high ranking. Vietnam exports about 40 % of the world’s Robusta coffee, the largest share globally.
A signature drink, cà phê sữa đá, mixes strong dark‑roasted coffee, sweetened condensed milk and ice. It is a staple of the bustling sidewalk café culture and remains popular with locals and tourists alike.
