The iPhone 17 Pro 256 GB was launched in September 2025 at VND35 million. A year later, Cho Tot listed the same model at an average of VND26.77 million, a drop of about 24 percent. Counterpoint Research reported that the iPhone 17 Pro was the third‑best‑selling smartphone worldwide in the second quarter of 2026.
Cho Tot’s data also showed the iPhone 17 Pro’s price fall was the steepest among the 17 iPhone models they surveyed. The iPhone 17 Pro Max fell from VND38 million to VND29.85 million, a loss of VND8.15 million.
Older iPhone generations have experienced similarly large drops. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, released two years ago at VND35 million, was listed at about VND21.7 million, while the iPhone 16 Pro, originally priced from VND29 million, saw a 39.2 percent decline.
For Vietnamese consumers, the rapid depreciation means a new iPhone 17 may lose almost a quarter of its value within a year, making a used device an attractive alternative. Buyers should weigh the steep resale loss against the appeal of the latest features before deciding.
