This article tells how a Lao student used hard work in Vietnamese to improve his grades and help many other students. It shows why language learning can open real opportunities.
He arrived in Vietnam at age 18 with only 12 days of Vietnamese learning. He forced himself to learn 20 new words every day and studied until after 11 pm each night.
By his fourth month, his Vietnamese was good enough to win second prize at the 2025 Central Vietnam Vietnamese Speech Contest. His language skill also helped him win third prize at the 2024 Eureka Scientific Research Awards and second prize in his university’s 2025‑26 scientific research competition.
Now he uses his fluency to support 126 Lao students, to organize cultural exchanges, and to help sign educational cooperation agreements between four Lao provinces and Phan Thiet University. These actions create more chances for students from both countries.
Kittilat’s experience shows that mastering a language can raise academic success and build strong links between different student groups. Focused language study can do the same for anyone who tries.
