Marriott International released a report on Oct. 6 about food trends in the Asia‑Pacific region. The report looks at Vietnamese restaurants and bars, so it is useful for anyone interested in Vietnam’s dining scene.
The report says 41% of Vietnamese restaurants and bars see growing demand for non‑alcoholic or low‑alcoholic drinks. It also notes that 43% of them report higher sales of fruit juices and smoothies, while 28% see lower sales of high‑end spirits.
Travis Nguyen, beverage manager at the Michelin‑starred restaurant Akuna in Ho Chi Minh City, says four out of ten guests choose non‑alcoholic drink pairings for the tasting menu. The report adds that the trend is popular among women guests and tourists. Experts say demand is growing among urban youth and international visitors.
The report states that 56% of surveyed restaurants and bars are creating dedicated non‑alcoholic menus. This shows how the rise of non‑alcoholic drinks is reshaping Vietnam’s restaurant scene.
