Russia has just announced a new 30‑day visa‑free entry for Vietnamese citizens. This change can open more travel and business chances for people from Vietnam, so it is useful to understand what it means.
President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that removes the visa requirement for Vietnamese citizens. The decree starts on 15 October 2026 and will stay in force until 15 October 2027. It allows stays of up to 30 days for family visits, business trips, tourism, events or transit.
The decree also says the waiver does not cover people who come to work, including journalists, nor students or anyone planning to settle in Russia. Those who need a work visa must still follow the regular application process.
Officials say the new rule should help Vietnam and Russia work together more in tourism. In the first half of 2026, Vietnamese arrivals in Russia grew 21.4 % compared with the same period a year earlier, showing rising interest.
In short, the visa‑free period gives Vietnamese travelers and businesses a simple way to visit Russia for short trips, but it does not allow work or long‑term stays. Knowing the limits helps you plan trips or business plans correctly.
