Vietnam has just introduced a new fire‑safety law that promises to make it easier for factories to start operating. The changes are important for anyone who works with, invests in, or manages a manufacturing business.
From 37 administrative steps, the 2024 Law now requires only five. On October 1, three of those steps are handled by police agencies and two by commune‑level People’s Committees.
Project owners are given more decision‑making power, but they must also hire qualified consultants to guarantee that construction meets the new rules. This shift aims to replace the earlier situation where high compliance costs forced some enterprises to suspend operations.
The reform follows Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s directive to cut paperwork and lower business costs. Experts note that Vietnam’s compulsory fire and explosion insurance could be used to lower premiums for factories that improve their risk management.
In short, the new fire‑safety reforms cut the number of procedures dramatically, give owners more control, and may reduce insurance costs, all of which should lower the overall burden on Vietnamese businesses. Companies can now focus more on production and less on red tape.
