Robotic hands are moving from factories to kitchens, and the change could affect how we spend our daily time. Understanding Linkerbot’s progress helps us see what chores might soon be automated.
Linkerbot’s advanced models provide more than 20 degrees of freedom, which lets the fingers manipulate tiny screws, operate tools and even play musical instruments, according to the company’s technical specifications (P11). This level of dexterity approaches that of a human hand.
The company currently supplies these hands to Chinese factories, where they grasp components and assemble products. Linkerbot also aims to enable robots to cook, clean and handle delicate objects for household assistance (P3).
In 2025, Linkerbot shipped over 10,000 robotic hands, making it China’s second‑largest manufacturer by volume, as reported by Gaogong Industry Research Institute (P17). Its client list includes Stanford University, Samsung Electronics and Siemens.
To teach the hands human‑like tasks, Linkerbot has built an AI‑powered skills library called LinkerSkillNet, which now contains more than 500 skills such as threading needles and chopping vegetables (P22). The library allows a single hand to learn many different motions.
Founder Alex Zhou says robots will take over difficult, repetitive and physically demanding jobs, giving people more time for other activities rather than replacing labour (P25‑P26). If this vision materialises, everyday life and work could become considerably less labor‑intensive.
