Travel and Tour World, a leading Indian travel publication, ranked Ho Chi Minh City among the 50 most attractive shopping destinations globally. This recognition highlights the city’s growing appeal for fashion‑focused travelers.
Chloe, a 22‑year‑old traveler from Australia, arrived on Tran Quang Dieu Street and spent nearly US$800 in a single afternoon on cheap, high‑quality clothing. She said she was inspired by a TikToker who came with an empty suitcase just to fill it by shopping here.
Content creator Tina Yong, who has almost four million followers, uses TikTok and Instagram to showcase Vietnamese fashion and guides tourists to shop in HCMC. Her viral “Vietnam Haul” videos have turned the local scene into a global reference point for shoppers.
According to U.K. magazine Conde Nast Traveller, Vietnamese clothing is made with high craftsmanship on the same production lines as global brands such as Nike and GAP, yet costs only a fraction of Western retail prices. Nguyen Huu Hoang, a consultant for a shop on Le Van Sy, says foreign shoppers now make up 80‑90% of his boutique’s clientele, prompting many stores to focus on Instagram marketing.
Nguyen Huu Hoang says many customers ask about international shipping, but it is very hard for his shop to provide. This limits how quickly tourists can receive their purchases abroad.
