Why Vietnam Started the 2026 Month for the Poor

Vì sao Việt Nam khởi động Tháng vì người nghèo 2026

Nguồn: Vietnamnet

Vietnam launched the 2026 Month for the Poor campaign on October 17 in Hanoi. The event shows how the country is turning disaster challenges into a coordinated effort to help the most vulnerable.

During 2024‑2026, Vietnam faced increasingly unpredictable natural disasters, storms and floods that caused severe losses of life, property and livelihoods. These hardships forced social assistance programs to act quickly and to support rebuilding and long‑term stability.

The campaign, announced by VFF President Bui Thi Minh Hoai, aims to support disadvantaged groups and achieve sustainable poverty reduction. She called on government agencies, businesses, philanthropists and overseas Vietnamese to contribute to the Fund for the Poor.

At the launch ceremony, 225 representatives of organizations and individuals were honored for their outstanding contributions to social welfare during the 2024‑2026 period. Their recognition highlights the tradition of mutual assistance and the broad participation of businesses, communities and overseas Vietnamese.

By linking disaster response with a national solidarity drive, Vietnam hopes to mobilize resources and compassion to lift people out of poverty. The 2026 Month for the Poor therefore reflects a strategic effort to turn collective aid into lasting improvement for vulnerable communities.
