From Insecurity to Empathy: Bach Tuyet’s Journey
Từ mặc cảm ngoại hình đến lòng thấu cảm: Hành trình của Bạch Tuyết
Nguồn: Vietnamnet
Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet, a 22‑year‑old from Ninh Binh, was born with albinism, giving her naturally white hair and skin. Her story shows how confronting appearance‑related insecurity can lead to personal growth.
Because of her condition, Bach Tuyet suffered poor eyesight and skin that burns easily in sunlight. While studying, she was repeatedly bullied and faced social stigma because of her looks.
Despite the community’s prejudice, her parents gave her unconditional love and support, protecting her from hurtful comments. Their encouragement helped her endure the harsh treatment she experienced at school.
Determined to turn her pain into purpose, she chose to study psychology, hoping to heal herself and others with anxiety. After graduating, she completed a mental‑health internship in Hanoi, where her own insecurities allowed her to listen to patients without judgment. A photo shoot for an albinism‑awareness project also boosted her confidence and reinforced her belief in her unique beauty.
Today, Bach Tuyet says her physical differences motivate her to assist others and to empathise deeply with patients. Her journey illustrates how personal adversity can become a source of empathy and a meaningful career.
