Phu Quoc has started a three‑month crackdown on fake online travel offers, running from October to December 2026. The campaign is important because recent scams have hurt the island’s reputation and could affect anyone planning a visit.
The plan orders a comprehensive review of every local accommodation provider, travel agency, transport operator, restaurant, entertainment venue, individual broker and the social‑media platforms they use. By checking these businesses, authorities hope to stop false listings before tourists book them.
The tourism rapid‑response team will place multilingual QR codes at airports, ports and on websites. Tourists can scan the codes for real‑time warnings and emergency help.
Since 26 February 2026 the rapid‑response team has logged more than 130 reports. It has already assisted 25 foreign visitors who lost documents or property, helped a Chinese tourist recover a Rolex watch worth VND 400 million, and found emergency accommodation for 30 travellers.
Authorities also removed 60 infringing social‑media posts and fined two people a total of VND 15 million for posting fake information. These actions show that Phu Quoc is building a safer, more transparent environment for tourists.
