From Rose Bushes to Tourist Hub: How a Sa Pa Farm Boosted Income and Jobs
Từ vườn hồng đến điểm du lịch: Mô hình nông trại Sa Pa tăng thu nhập, tạo việc làm

A farmer in Sa Pa turned a modest rose plot into a thriving agritourism site, drawing thousands of tourists each year. The story shows how a simple garden can generate billions of dong while safeguarding a cultural heritage.
Chinh began propagating ancient roses in 1997 from only a few plants. Over the next decades he expanded the collection to more than 2,000 bushes spread across a 3‑hectare garden, preserving varieties that originated from 19th‑century French introductions.
The combined annual revenue from rose sales, tourism tickets, the on‑site restaurant and guest rooms reaches about 4 billion VND, and the profit margin exceeds 2 billion VND. These figures illustrate how diversifying into tourism can multiply farm income.
Each year the garden welcomes over 15,000 visitors who pay admission, dine in the restaurant and can stay in the modest accommodation. The operation employs roughly 15 permanent labourers, paid between 8 million and 15 million VND per month, and expands to up to 35 staff during peak periods.
The provincial People’s Committee officially recognised the site as a tourist destination in May 2020, and in 2026 Chinh was honoured as one of Vietnam’s Outstanding Farmers. His model demonstrates that integrating agriculture with tourism can preserve heritage, boost earnings and create jobs.
