Van Vu was appointed general manager of Renaissance Danang Hoi An Resort & Spa. She is the first Vietnamese woman to hold a GM position at a Marriott International property in Vietnam. This news can inspire women who want leadership jobs.

Vu has 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She worked for more than five years at JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa in Costa Rica. She also held leadership roles at InterContinental Long Beach Phu Quoc and Fusion Resort & Villas Danang.

Vu said she hopes her appointment will encourage other women to pursue careers and leadership in hospitality. In her new role she will work to strengthen the resort’s position in the Da Nang‑Hoi An tourism market. She also wants to create professional development opportunities for the resort’s employees.

Vu’s leadership philosophy is to “lead with heart, always aim higher.” She believes a good leader builds trust, lets staff share ideas, and helps them grow.
