Gold prices slipped on Wednesday, marking the fourth straight day of decline. Understanding the reasons helps investors see how oil, inflation worries and Fed expectations can move the market.
In Vietnam, Saigon Gold Jewelry Company reported that the price of a gold bar fell 0.21% to VND142.3 million per tael. The price of a gold ring dropped at the same rate, reaching VND140.9 million per tael.
Globally, gold prices fell for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday. The decline was pressured by rising oil prices, which revived inflation concerns while investors waited for the Federal Reserve’s upcoming meeting.
Spot gold was down 0.2% at $4,118.18 per ounce, and U.S. gold futures for December slipped 0.2% to $4,136.20. Bas Kooijman, CEO and asset manager of DHF Capital S.A., told Reuters that the metal could stay under pressure as crude prices rise, keeping inflationary pressures in place and reinforcing hawkish monetary‑policy expectations.
The fall in gold prices on Wednesday reflects the combined effect of higher oil prices, renewed inflation worries and expectations of a cautious Federal Reserve. Investors should watch these factors, as they are likely to influence gold’s future movements.
