Ho Chi Minh City announced a push to attract more U.S. investment in artificial intelligence, high technology and other strategic sectors. The city’s leaders say this effort is key to its future economic direction, making the story relevant for anyone watching Vietnam’s growth.
During a meeting with Kelly Coldiron, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Asia and Acting Executive Director of SelectUSA, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc reaffirmed the city’s commitment to strengthen ties with U.S. businesses. He linked this commitment to the city’s long‑term development priorities.
The city has just completed an administrative merger, and it now aims to draw long‑term investment in science, technology, digital transformation, energy transition, biotechnology and smart healthcare. These areas match the sectors highlighted in the city’s development plan.
Duoc said local authorities are working to improve transparency and create a favourable business environment for foreign investors, especially American companies. The goal is to make the city a more attractive place for U.S. firms to expand their operations.
Coldron described Ho Chi Minh City as a promising destination for expanded U.S. business cooperation in the digital and green economies, superintelligence, high technology, innovation and smart cities. She encouraged city officials to keep supporting American businesses seeking to invest.
